AZ, 11-7-68

Dave,

On the new site, under the Bright Midnight archives is a listing for The Doors 11-7-68 Phoenix, AZ show.  Do you (the Doors) have this show and are you going to release it?  Is it a mistake?   I noticed that within the pics of the show are posters and ticket stubs but they are from the Feb. 17th 68 show.  Should I start getting excited...!?

thanks
Chris

Robby Krieger in RI

14 December 2012 - 10:54 PM

Saw Robby Krieger last night at The Met Cafe in Providence, RI.   He and his band were fantastic!!  There were probably about a 100 people and I scored a table right in front of the stage.  It was more of a Jazz show with a heavy dose of funk but every musician, especially the keyboard player, was in top form.   Robby of course pulled out a few Doors songs - Underwater Fall, Riders on the Storm and Roadhouse Blues.   What a great night.  I've heard the Doors talk about how much jazz was an influence on their music and it was nice to see Robby mature into such a capable jazz guitar player.  Makes me wish he, Ray and John could get together and do a little psychedelic jazz trio tour.  I know, wishful thinking...

Doors in Cleveland 1970

24 July 2012 - 09:28 PM

I'm sure this has been discussed back in the Bright Midnight concert days but the Mild Equator website posted 2 interesting vintage articles about the 3 Allen Theater / Cleveland, Ohio shows.  Both articles mention that Elektra engineers were there taping for an upcoming live album (Absolutely Live I assume) and anyone there may be heard on tape.  Were the articles' authors wrong, tapes disappear, still at large?  Probably just mis-informed but there's not much else being talked about around here.

New source for uncirculated Doors tapes...?

28 May 2012 - 06:03 PM

I read an article in the May issue of Rolling Stone about the death of  San Francisco acid king Owsley "Bear" Stanley's death last year.   He's well known to Dead and Airplane fans and is mentioned in a couple of Doors books, notably for telling Ray that the Doors "had too many holes in their music."  I believe Greg Shaw notes that he personally gave Jim a batch of his LSD.  The article talked about how he taped over 1,000 concerts of all the bands that came through San Fran between 1966 and 1975 and they are starting to see the light of day.  A bunch of bands are mentioned like the Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Santana, etc.    The Doors aren't mentioned but it seems like the Doors would fill all the chronological, venue and psychedelic requirements to have been taped by Stanley.  Anybody have any inside info or opinions?  Jeff, any chance you guys might (or hopefully already are) following up on this?
