Dunno what would have happened if Jim were 27 in our time. Musicians have it hard today, unless they were / are deeply troubled like Amy Winehouse, Pete Doherty, Britney, M. Jackson). If Jim Morrison were alive and 27 today, most likely he would have been hunted down by paparazzi, so we could see sensational pictures about him being drugged up, naked or fighting. Some of the stories would be true, some just made up. Maybe we would follow him on Twitter, Facebook, be able to comment on his thoughts in real time?
Maybe the good music that Jim and The Doors made wouldn't interest anyone today? People now love Kardashians, badly written books like Twilight and 50 Shades, the most internet attention gets a pregnant / divorcing celebrity or a starlet and her cheating director. Do we have young rock stars at all?

jm2c - message boards are out of style lol they tend to be empty these days everywhere. The way people communicate has changed...And I think everything has been said on this board, one just needs to hit the search button.
The Doors are not forgotten, on the contrary over eleven million people follow The Doors official page on Facebook.

One of my kids young nannies, she musta been 20. Had a 19 year old boyfriend. She found out she was pregnant. The boyfriend snorted heroin the next week and died. First time. Dumb idiot. Now her 15 year old kid will never know his father. It's all sad.
Manhime, I imagine a few good friends tried to influence (save) Jim, but he was stubborn and dismissive in his choices. There is only so much one can do and nobody is clearvoyant. I think, in the late sixties and early seventies many people (famous and the ordinary) lost their lives over drugs including alcohol. There were not so many rehabs back then and you were on your own.

I'm SOOOOO envious of you Europeans--it's like Jim said about Paris: that it was central to all of Europe and the British Isles and it was so easy to pop off for a few days in Greece or Spain or Turkey or London or wherever (of course having his kind of money helped too....
)
As for the Mac, it's great in a lot of ways the old one wasn't, but it's got a couple of VERY annoying peculiarities that I'm going to have to look into (it will suddenly zoom in on a page without any warning, for instance).

Well, yes sure if you want to reside in Paris or London for a few months and pick up exclusive locations as Jim and Pam did only lots of money helps. Although traveling here in Europe is really cheap (by plain, train or car) destinations like Corsica are still very expensive...The yachts of the very rich like Tom Cruise or Princess Caroline can be seen around that area. It is a beautiful island though with smaragd water beaches. London and UK are pricy too, the scenic French country side as well, but all worth visiting. Jim was smart in his travel choices.
But you don t have to envy us in Europe. For sure, living in LA in one of the most exciting times in the modern world' history and meeting some remarkable people along the way it sure does compensate Europe, doesn't it?

The summer has been goin' nice & easy so far, thanks Miz. We are all in slow motion, it has been hot and humid here in Munich lately, thank heaven for the beer gardens & cold beer, otherwise dunno how would we survive.
Taking off to Malta soon, look forward to the lazy Mediterranean days and good wine in Valletta. That is about it, just work, food & entertainment .
How was the birthday and how is the MacBook Pro? It better be working like a charm, I imagine you must have paid a fortune?
Which reminds me to point, for the Apple fans, the latest Steve Jobs biography is highly recomended by me. What a remarkable man, what a amazing story he had to tell us!
