And how many times do I have to tell you that I cancelled cable back in 2008, and only have the broadcast channels these days? I don't get FX, I don't get CNN....and I really don't miss them that much but I still toy with the idea of signing up again, but I just can't quite bring myself to do it. I watch too much TV as it is. (It's 2:00 in the morning and Antiques Roadshow is just now coming on, so of course I'm going to watch it...)
As long as PBS is free and available to anyone with a TV set, I don't really see the point of cable. When it becomes A la carte-- when you as the consumer get to pick which channels you want to watch (and pay for) then I might sign up again, but until then--not a chance.
