I find that not only am I not offended at this use of the Who classic, I'm downright thrilled to hear it used in this context. Of course the fact that I'm a huge fan of the show has nothing to do with it...
Anyway, my point, insofar as I have one, is that I wouldn't want Doors music to be used in a commercial, but if a really good show like CSI: Miami or (my favorite) NCIS:Los Angeles were to use Doors' music as an integral part of the show, I woudn't have a problem with it--in fact I'd be thrilled.
Incidentally, back in 1985 Jim's friend Don Johnson (whatever happened to him?) produced an entire episode of Miami Vice with nothing but Doors' music on the soundtrack.
It was grand. There's nothing that sets the tone for late 60s/early 70s--or late 80s/early 90s-- Los Angeles like Doors' music. Nothing.
