Nothing is unknown, unaccounted for or missing. The estate archives have all of Jim's writings (including photocopies of everything in the original F-127 box, which accounted for maybe 10% of all of Jim's writings). All of Jim's notebooks and loose pages remain secure in a bank vault here in the States and remain controlled by the estate.
No, F-127 had nothing to do with "The Lords" and "The New Creatures" which were already published (twice) before Jim's death--once when he self-published them as two separate books, and the second time when Simon & Schuster combined them together into one book, which they called "The Lords & The New Creatures." The two posthumous poetry books, "Wilderness" and "The American Night" actually contained very, very little of what was in the F-127 box; which, again, accounted for a very small percentage of Jim's complete writings.
Also note that there's little evidence that what has been presented in the past as Jim's "last" notebook and containing his "final words" (and sold at various auctions under that guise) are NOT any such thing. Jim brought many of his notebooks from the States to Paris and further notebooks that Jim had left around the Doors office were put in Jim's portmanteau and sent over to Paris as well. The vast, vast majority of Jim's notebooks were found and kept by the estate upon Pam's death. Only a sampling of Jim's work was in the now-famous F-127 box, but everything that was in there was photocopied and now resides with all of Jim's collected writings.
The facts are that Jim brought much of his work with him to Paris.....his two films (HWY and Feast of Friends), tapes of recording sessions, and his notebooks and journals that he planned to work on and organize during his time there. The problem is that over the years people start assuming that because things were in
Paris, they must have been created in Paris and thus are his last works, his last thoughts and his final artistic statements. But once again, it's all just more grist for the myths.
