I'm a quarter of the way through this book. I guess the first gig the Allman Brothers Band did when they got out to L.A. was opening for The Doors at the Hullabaloo Club. Then he talks about Julia Brose. She was a secretary for Dallas Smith, who produced one of the Allman Brothers Band's first records(at that time they were known as Hour Glass). She lived up off of Laurel Canyon. Her old man (who she later married) was John Densmore. It was in her "little tiny shack" that Gregg wrote the lyrics to 'Dreams'. Gregg had stayed at her place off and on. Once before she went on the road w/The Doors she asked Gregg to watch her dog, who was pregnant w/puppies. Gregg tripped out on orange sunshine, and the dog started having her puppies! A neighbor came over to assist, but who else comes up the drive, 4 limos! All The Doors & Julia! Robbie and Ray left, but John and Jim stayed. Julia introduced them, unbeknownst to Jim & John he's still tripping heavily. Jim looks at Gregg and goes, "What you got there on your hand, man?" Gregg says it's just a little puppy juice! John looked at Gregg kinda strangely, and Jim goes "Oh, boy, this is going to be a good one. I have to stay and hear about this!" LOL! They were laughing so hard when they all left that fortunately John didn't notice that Gregg had banged Julia, because he thought he had just been house sitting. I've paraphrased a bit but the quotes are Jim's. There will probably be more about the Doors in this book but I thought it was interesting. Plus the fact that both Gregg & Jim were from FL, I'm surprised they hadn't crossed paths before they both moved to L.A.?

Interesting. I thought the Allmans were from Georgia but I see on Wikipedia that Duane & Gregg grew up in Tennessee and Daytona Beach.

OT: Jim sure got around and met a lot of people in his short life. I'm currently listening to the audio version of Steven Tyler's autobiography. Steven and his friends attended a party in NYC circa 1966 given by a very flamboyant fellow named Monti Rock (who later recorded as Disco Tex & the Sexolettes! ?What! You can't make this stuff up). Anyway, Jim Morrison showed up at this party. Young Steven and his friends were in awe and too afraid to talk to him. The kids were very stoned but thought that Morrison was even further "out there."

Steven had seen Jim & The Doors perform at Steve Paul's The Scene - which Tyler gives a very good description of.
