WTF is the hush-hush collectible?

This board and the "year of the doors" is pure bluff...not a single new on future releases and a completely absent managment

There is no hush-hush collectible. That's just wishful thinking. Regardless of what has been stated in the past, we will probably get one release this year, and that will be Hollywood Bowl which is cool in my opinion. Matrix and London Fog will probably get pushed back to next year. There will not be a 3 CD L.A. Woman set. It will probably be released as a digital download.

Exactly. Anyone who is convinced we'll get three or four releases by November (or whenever it is) is kidding themselves. Besides, the last "surprise" was a hack job edit of LA Woman accompanied by a clip of some guys skating.

Actually, I'd love a properly done, HD mastered Hollywood Bowl as much as Matrix or London Fog anyway. It's very calm and pensive Doors, like on the Aquarius stuff, which I love.

I believe we will get 3 releases by years end. Count on it. There is 7 months left in the year!!!!!! I agree time is a ticking but it's not over yet. I wish Jeff would come on here too but that is apparently stopped for some reason. He hasn't been on the boards in a long time. I'm not sure what's going on but everything can change with one post. So, we wait. Aaaaaaand wait.

We're sorting stuff out, lining up releases, and getting all of our ducks in a row. We'll be working with several different partners, some surprises, and (I'd like to think) some real quality offerings. They will probably be rolled out across this year and next year, but the plan, as of now, is to have two internet/digital products out, London Fog, and a brand-new restored HB out this year as well. We'll seeeeeee.........and the reason I'm not here a lot is because, a) there's nothing definitive to report, and B) I actually have a lot on my plate and am absolutely slammed.

Hi Jeff,

Are "Matrix Complete" and the postponed LA Woman box still on the roadmap for physical CD release?  Or are these only going to be download only?  Does Hollywood Bowl feature the complete show with original vocals--including "Hello I Love You"?  Or are any songs edited out of HB due to lack of camera coverage?  Did any vocals have to be "flown in" from other shows for repairs due to damaged vocals?  Will the HB Blu-Ray also have a CD companion release?

The Doors / Physical release of L.A. Woman outtakes set in the balance

May 14, 2012
by Paul Sinclair

The Doors will “almost certainly” release a digital version of a three-CD L.A. Woman outtake set sometime this year, according to manager Jeff Jampol, but an actual physical set is uncertain at this time.

“As soon as I have a definite release commitment and date, you’ll know” is the official line from Jampol, who was forced to make a U-turn on his promise to fans of a five-disc super deluxe edition of L.A. Woman last autumn.

A two-disc 40th Anniversary edition was issued in January with promise of a three disc set in the first half of this year to give fans something equivalent to a five-disc box.

Back in December via The Doors official website forum, Jampol posted an unconfirmed track listing for this 3CD release (see below):

Gosh, 88 tracks still to listen. How wonderful would be to have in my hands a nice physical release of this wonderful material. Almost as good as a complete Matrix.  B)

Here's what Jeff said back in 2008 about a complete Matrix box:

Quote

By Jeff Jampol November 24, 2008

We are attempting to do some further research on these better quality samples that have all of a sudden popped up. I will make you two promises:

1. We will research, and if we discover any substantive new information, I will let you know about it. We will also attempt to address some of your concerns regarding what exists, what does not exist, what may or may not be available, and what, if anything, we can/are able to do to address it;

2. If a markedly better copy emerges at some point and we are able to obtain it, I will attempt to make it available to you. I would especially love to find a master-quality recording of all four shows - I think that would be a really cool "limited-edition" mini-box for the hardcore fans and collectors. I would also discuss with Botnick and The Doors just leaving it "as-recorded," i.e. not re-sequencing it, but presenting it just like The Doors performed it, in that order.

Thanks hardrockcafe for this 2008 quote. I didn't remember this. Let's hope this will be a reality. Matrix is a unique figure in the early Doors recording. We don't know the LF sound quality but I assume the quality provided by the matrix master reels cannot be surpassed.
An official physical release as described as Jeff did is a wonderful dream and a tantalizing collector item.
Let's hope this will be real. for the benefit of all (band, manager, fans & collectors).

Even if market conditions are bad, there is always room for excellence. I cannot think in anything else that surpasses Matrix excellence.

Even oldtimers are downloading nowadays. I think the 3 CD set has sailed. If it's released as a download only, you're going to miss the boat. That would be a shame.
