Hi Janet!
My summer sucks...I think I told you I moved to VT this past September but I didn't tell you I got fired from my job as a receptionist at a doctor's office this past March so for now I'm just collecting unemployment!

Taking off to Malta soon, look forward to the lazy Mediterranean days and good wine in Valletta. That is about it, just work, food & entertainment .
How was the birthday and how is the MacBook Pro? It better be working like a charm, I imagine you must have paid a fortune?
Which reminds me to point, for the Apple fans, the latest Steve Jobs biography is highly recomended by me. What a remarkable man, what a amazing story he had to tell us!

I'm SOOOOO envious of you Europeans--it's like Jim said about Paris: that it was central to all of Europe and the British Isles and it was so easy to pop off for a few days in Greece or Spain or Turkey or London or wherever (of course having his kind of money helped too....
As for the Mac, it's great in a lot of ways the old one wasn't, but it's got a couple of VERY annoying peculiarities that I'm going to have to look into (it will suddenly zoom in on a page without any warning, for instance).

Europe is so great for Americans to visit...... but it kills singers named Jim Morrison. US is the greatest country and North America the greatest continent. We should not be envious of anyone from another country, and especially not someone from France. In instances like this, we can't forget WWII.
Aside from the British Invasion artists of the 60s, no European band/musical artist will ever have an impact on Rock. The Radioheads of today are not affecting the music of tomorrow. No one today is influential, therefore today's bands can not be listed as 'influences' by the youth.
If I was in a band with Jim, I would not have let him leave like he did. Did anyone even try to get him drunk enough to forget that Paris business?
Jim may have had some grand romantic notion about impregnating all of the women in France, but it wasn't worth his life.
If Jim was going to have done an epic mission like that, he would have had to have started back in the 1700s.

Well, yes sure if you want to reside in Paris or London for a few months and pick up exclusive locations as Jim and Pam did only lots of money helps. Although traveling here in Europe is really cheap (by plain, train or car) destinations like Corsica are still very expensive...The yachts of the very rich like Tom Cruise or Princess Caroline can be seen around that area. It is a beautiful island though with smaragd water beaches. London and UK are pricy too, the scenic French country side as well, but all worth visiting. Jim was smart in his travel choices.
But you don t have to envy us in Europe. For sure, living in LA in one of the most exciting times in the modern world' history and meeting some remarkable people along the way it sure does compensate Europe, doesn't it?

I don't know why because this is probably far from the truth but I never thought of Jim as "rich"...even when he lived in Paris he was renting the flat...I mean he never seemed to flash his money around...always seemed to live very simply...but maybe that's not true...I mean did he ever even own a house? He always seemed to be staying at the Chateau Marmont or one of those motels he was always staying in...at least Pam had apartments...like where did people even write to Jim when they wanted to send him a letter probably to the Doors office it seems like Jim was always transient which I guess was part of his allure LOL...
