Anyway, here's the video of the Tupac hologram from Coachella to get an idea of what it'd be like. (And sorry, don't know how or want to take the time to find out how to embed the video in the post so I'll just provide the link.)

I saw the clip the other day and it swept me off my feet! Wow, spooky and fascinating at the same time.
ps. obviously, I would love to see Jim's hologram on stage. It would be like what Ray said, a religious experience

If they were to create a Jim hologram, and they probably will, it will be interesting to see how they present him. It's a safe bet that they will present him as he appeared in '67-'68.

Now their talking about all kinds of dead celebrities for this technology. I think not! I don't want to see
a Jim Morrison hologram. I just watch the videos and remember him that way.
And the end is always near.

I keep thinking these days how I would like to see Jim’s hologram paired with some new young lion of the 21st century, not with the Doors (the age gap would be too obvious IMO). And, strange, I could not come up with any famous 27 year old male singer that would be match for Jim. The closest I come up with was Gotye...Go figure.

Tupac hologram at Coachella
There are many people who have heard of Tupac, but do not necessarily know his songs.
Everyone on Earth knows of Tupac though. A little disrespectful of you to suggest otherwise. All you can say is that he got shot in 1996?
Shakur was a Rap-Singer. He was the Kobe Bryant of Rap. He created his rhymes as God gave them to him and a team made songs around what he said. Tupac's mind went blank and God gave him his raps. He relied on cannabis for this feat of achievement.
Tupac Shakur is Jim Morrison. Tupac was born just 3 weeks before Jim died. How about that?
Who cares about realistic? Tupac was a THUG Nigga. He shot at 2 off duty ATL cops who were messing with a Black person on Halloween one year. Defense of others.
I can't say what Pac would think about that holocrap, but it is not Tupac up there.
You are acting like it actually is Tupac, or that Jim would be up there.
Some geek with a projector can whip up a cartoon that mimics Morrison and try and dupe people, but it won't be Jim you are seeing. It would be Val Kilmer up on stage.
The Doors can play Jim's voice over a soundboard, but no video or hologram/ 3-D.
It woudn't be 'with Morrison' as you suggest. Morrison died. He left recordings of his voice for us.... that is all. He left no rights to ruin his image with crap. I will now refer to such a thing as trying to '10-8' Jim's memory. Only UFC fans will get that one. A 10-8 round is what Jason Miller (8) got in his loss to Dolloway(10). What that means is that he did not just lose a round, he sustained damage. There aren't many 10-8 rounds given out in MMA, most are 10-9. Winner gets 10 and loser gets nine or less. Carwin vs Dos Santos had a 10-8 round. These 10-8 round examples are just one judge's score in each respective bout. The other two judges stuck with 10-9 for all 3 rounds in each.
John Densmore would never do what you suggest and have a cartoon that mimics Jim. JD wouldn't 10-8 JDM.
I object to you or anyone even saying 'Tupac hologram'.

People today have all kinds of pills that they put in their soda bottles. Jim no doubt tried taking bennies like the Beats who took the nasal inhaler and removed the Dexedrine strip from inside put it in coffee in order to write their stuff. Jim wrote 'Crystal Ship' as an homage to this practice.
Any great new male singer is not going to be in a Rock band simply for the reason that he can not find musicians in Rock bands. A singer would emerge in Reggae or Jazz as a part of Prophecy. He would need a great back up band since he would not play an instrument, just as Jim didn't.
Gay music seems to be the trend for male singers these days. Girls don't expect strong male singers anymore. Then there is the popular female singer who relies on a Lesbian theme 'Kissed a girl' in order to lure young girl fans to the music. What does this message do to their ideas of men?
Basically, there aren't any great new Rock guitarists either. The talent seems to delve into experimental stuff and away from Rock. It is too fragmented today. The influences that affected Jim have been left behind. No new singers listen to the guys that Jim used to listen to.
Many will try and go the standard 'Blues' route, but it takes more than just learning Blues songs. In Jazz they call it the Third Stream or Third String and it refers to a mix of Jazz and Classical. Coltrane plus Ravi Shankar = Third Stream
Not all Jazz is safe. Singers often get too caught up in the Sinatra vibe, and such a thing will kill the Blues sound. Jim did not try and sing like Sinatra. They did a certain style of song with 'Your'e Lost....', but Jim didn't copy Frank's voice.

Yes exactly. It's in poor taste. But then I felt that way about Ian Astbury dressing up as Jim and trying to do his stage moves.
Hologram bands could be the wave of the future though as rock music, tragically, seems to be a dead art form. The masters are pushing 70, and there are only a handful of active rock bands who can still sell out stadiums (U2, AC/DC) - none of them are spring chickens either.
If I could go to a hologram concert experience featuring '73 era Pink Floyd or '75 Led Zeppelin - shoot, that would be amazing. Yes, think of it now: '68 Doors, '69 Rolling Stones.

U2 is not Rock. Apparantley, they are New Wave. I am ashamed that they are Irish and that Thin Lizzy is not regarded at the premiere Irish Rock band.
Rock is about getting messed up, but still producing great music. The only thing that U2 messes up is the sound on their records.

Quote... "We're trying to get to a point where 3-D characters will walk around," Jeff Jampol, who manages both artists' estates, told Billboard. "Hopefully, 'Jim Morrison' will be able to walk right up to you, look you in the eye, sing right at you and then turn around and walk away."
Jampol–who also handles the estates of Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Peter Tosh and Rick James–suggested that a 3D hologram would only be part of this proposed new multimedia concert experience. The show could also include walls pixelated like giant TV screens, along with the use of lasers, lights, high-quality audio and synchronized sound vibrations. "

Well I can see Ray, John and Robbie playing with the Hologram. One last concert for them. I remember they said when they did the American Prayer album. It was like Jim was in the room with them. They thought it was comforting.
Why not give them one last time with Jim.
On the other hand I can see how it would be insulting to the memory of Jim.
I am torn here

No, you are just an idiot, or pretending to be one, which is even worse. I prefaced that people should know who Tupac was unless they were "living under a rock," I am sorry you are not familiar with that phrase. And I did not feel the need to provide his entire biography, just the fact that he is dead and that is why a hologram was produced. Doesn't seem that hard to understand--for anyone else but you I guess. But, everyone on earth knows who Tupac is? Really? Please explain. I'm pretty sure I know a lot of people who do not know of him, just like many younger people, and older people, do not know of Jim Morrison. Why would they?
And about Jim Morrison really being there, I am also sorry you do not understand what a "hologram" is--it's been around for a while. It's not real, and I'm sure most people that witnessed the Tupac hologram that knew he was dead, knew it was not real, just as they would with Jim Morrison, or Hendrix, or Elvis. It'd kind of like going to a movie, you know, as I'm sure everyone in the theater knows they are not watching live gigantic actors performing. They refer to that experience as a "suspension of disbelief." Just like when people went to the theater to see Val Kilmer portraying Jim in The Doors movie, I'm assuming, didn't really think that was Jim in front of their face, would probably not do the same with a hologram version of him, cause, you know, they know it is a hologram and it's not real. So what's your point? Besides a UFC scorecard...
