Combined with the doors style font, it seems like they're trying to play off "Morrison Hotel" (which it isn't) or that Morrison slept on the roof top there (which he didn't).

Maybe he did sleep on the rooftop, maybe he slept on a bunch of rooftops, I don't know, and ultimately don't really care. It just feels kind of cheap.

I did, however, read this interview of Philomene Long, a poet from Venice Beach that was a contemporary of Morrison.

"...you will be happy to know that Jim Morrison used to sleep of the roof of our building, the Ellison."

I bet people got confused and kept asking if Morrison slept there so they went with it.

Is this the same apartment building that has the pic of Jim painted on the right side? Just out of curiousity how much is rent LOL? Be interesting to get a look inside. I'd never rent an apartment there but still...

The one with the mural is down the street. They also claim Morrison slept there.

When I was there in 2005, there was an actual roof-top apartment. I wonder if that was part of the building when Jim was alive or if it was added in a later renovation. When I read "No One Here Gets Out Alive" 32 years ago (OMG! I'm so bleeping old), I got the impression that Jim lived on a frigging roof, open to the elements.

There is no 'seeming' about it.... they are scamming the public. In addition, it looks like crap.

Morrison slept on the roof of a building where his friend lived on the upper floor (only tenant). Jim had access to the apt. for the bathroom/kitchen when he needed it, but he spent time outside mostly. There is a stairway which leads to the top floor apt., as well as to the roof. Go left for the roof, and right for the apt. It was only for the span of one summer. After that, Jim moved in with Ray and Dorothy.

Jim didn't have an obsession with other people's roofs.... he did it just for those few months after graduation because college was over and his parents therefore stopped sending money. During this time, Jim only ate oranges which he would take from neighbors trees. No alcohol at this point in his life.

Morrison even turned down wine from Ray and Dorothy since it wasn't his thing. Jim, according to Ray, was a stoner.

I can't tell if this is the building where Jim did sleep, but the real one has a brass plaque above the entry which states that W.C. Fields and Morrison both lived there/passed through the doors.

To note: During the 'Jims fake son' discussion, there was mention that this Cliff Marsden/Marston character took up residency in that very top-floor apt. as part of his quest to 'create a fake identity' and manufacture a connection to Morrison.
