If you want to argue over stupidness.  Please e-mail me.   It is not for this board.  I feel that Jim would of hated it.  It is my opinion.  Do not like it.  Take it to the e-mails.  I am done with this back and forth.

HWY has been said to be the video version of LAW.  If you watched the whole thing.  You would know it.

Anymore discussion you can e-mail me.  No more board back and forth.

I'm not interested in emailling back and forth... these boards are for discussion and is why we're here isn't it?

That is the first time I have ever heard of HWY being referred to as the video version of LAW. Riders on the storm is a better choice, you know... There's a killer on the road...

The Doors premiere a brand new video for L.A. Woman tomorrow morning, March 19th 2012, and we wanted to make sure you all get a first look before we announce it to the world.

The video was directed by two-time Emmy® nominee Matt Goodman and includes a new single version of "L.A. Woman," marking the first time this iconic track has ever been released as a single!  The video finds professional skateboarders Kenny Anderson, Alex Olson, and Braydon Szafranski taking viewers on a "Doors-centric" skateboarding tour of Los Angeles.  Their L.A. journey is filled with stops at many iconic spots from The Doors' storied career, from Venice Beach to Hollywood. Viewers will be treated to many Doors references, ranging from obvious to subtle - some cool "blink and you might miss them" cameos. See if you can catch them.

Post it, share it & spread to the world...

Jeff, i have to ask this, somebody point it to me and now i have to know the true:

will see a 7" vinyl of this new single version of L.a.woman on the next RSD?
Waiting for the Big Fat Black Complete Matrix Box Set!

I thought I was the only one who thought this was terrible.  I appreciate the hard work it went into making this.  Yet, They chopped the song and took away its uniqueness.

Jim Morrison would not be happy.

I can not believe that John Densmore took part in it.

John Densmore personally did the audio and video edit (drummers seem to have a great sense of rhythm, pacing and timing).
Robby was IN the video and loves it.
Ray was supposed to be in the video, but couldn't get down to LA the weekend we shot it. He loves it and approved the audio and video edits.
Jac Holzman, who signed The Doors, is in the video.
Bruce Botnick, who co-produced, engineered and mixed every Doors album, was supposed to be in the video, but got stuck that weekend and couldn't make it.

This is ALL Doors.

PS - I find it a dangerous trap to state unequivocally what "Jim would like," or what "Jim would not like." How do YOU know? Who personally can speak for Jim? Who can say what Jim "would" do? One can only say what Jim DID. And he DID approve a Light My Fire edit, and he DID approve a Riders On The Storm edit. As did the other three Doors, Holzman, and Botnick. And they all approved (and participated in) this one, too.
You can say YOU don't like it, though - that's totally cool.

Thanks for explaining why Ray wasn't in it. Shame Bruce didn't make it either.

Who is the intended audience for this video and where will it be seen?  Hardcore fans saw a similar video made 25 years ago for the same song.

I'd prefer that the money spent on this video was spent aquiring a new uncirculated audio tape.

Hmmmm, this is pretty jarring as are most single edits. I think it drastically undermines the power of the song. Whatever. It's not really aimed at me. If it makes someone who doesn't know The Doors listen to more of the music, it's probably worth it as long as he/she goes on to listen to the LA Woman album.

If contemporary single edits of tracks released on LP 40+ years ago are being done, could we please get a compilation of all single edits/mixes released between 1967 and 1972 by The Doors? There's a lot of unique material that only came out on 7" that should be available. A lot of people, including Steve Hoffman, advocate many single versions as superior to album versions. Surely that's a good way to enhance the legacy, i.e. releasing the original versions of the songs that were the radio hits.

Nothing from The Doors. We're giving it a rest for now. We've already been there a few times.

The intended audience is new fans and unexposed young fans. This wasn't made for you guys, necessarily, but if you like it, enjoy it!

It is intended to be shared virally, primarily in the skater community and other social media areas where new potential young fans may "congregate."

OMG!! I LOVED it!  I felt like I was back there in Venice Beach and L.A. walking around and experiencing all the characters of the place.  Except when I visit, I don't see John Densmore...maybe next time!

And I get the whole skater thing, really cool perspective.  I loved it Jeff and I'm an old fan!

Well at this we could agree.  I guess it is good to expose a young Bieber generation.

Why hack the song?  I do not get it.

I thought that you had given this some thought long ago. The idea of singles box set has been discussed as length for quite some time. In fact, I got the impression that it was something that had been planned at one time. It may not be on the front burner anymore, but has this idea been completely shelved?

My opinion, as if it matters.... Felt just as Jeff said: This ain't for us oldtimers, it's for the young kids. The NEW generation. Yeah, I found that musical edit pretty jarring too. I'm also pretty jaded about L.A., since it's the only place I've lived all these years. I'm a lucky guy to have lived in DOORSTOWN all my life-----

Well maybe this video (as bad as I feel it is) will peek the interest of the young generation.

I remember when I thought all The Doors songs were as I heard on the radio.  When I listened to the live concerts and heard the long versions.  It was like I heard the songs for the first time.  I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
