What is the best flat transfer CD for each album?

For example:

THE DOORS
1984, West Germany, Elektra 74007-2 (242 0120)
1988, US, ELEKTRA 74007-2
...

What if you could only have one CD for each album; not 40th mixes, not 1999 remasters, not Steve Hoffman remasters?

Well, as I understand, a flat transfer is when you try to get the same sound on the CD as in the original tapes.
Those old first presses of CDs in the 80's were mostly flat transfer, meaning not remastered.

Everything (I think,) after 1999 is either the same remaster a 'The Complete Studio Recordings' or the 40th mixes.
Before that some are remastered, like the DCC Steve Hoffman remasters, but some of them are not, like the famous West Germany Target CDs.

Thanks. I have all of the CD releases with the exception of the DCC Steve Hoffman remasters. I'm assuming the original CD releases are flat transfers. I haven't to them in awhile.
