Hi Jeff, I know this has been asked in the past and perhaps you're not at liberty to say. However, can you possibly shed some light on what concerts (even just one) remain in the archive that were recorded for Absolutely Live? Something that may see a BMA release? I believe about 15 hours of material have been released so far. Years ago it was stated that approximately 30 hours of material exists. Just hoping you or Dave can give us a small insight. Thank you for all your input and interaction on these boards.

Not recorded for AL, but from that era, 1970, they have Seattle and Bakersfield which, along with Vancouver, were recorded by Vince Treanor.

Since an incomplete audience recording circulates for the 2/15/70 show, it made me wonder if perhaps some other shows from the days before circulate. I know we've got 2 songs from 2/6/70 and most of the next night's gig also as audience recordings.

I wish they'd put the second Bakersfield reel out there. Also, it would be nice if a more complete (and better quality) San Diego 8/22/70 would surface.

With regards to Bakersfield, if they have it release it!

Its the second best way to record, with it being a sound stage recording.

If the doors don't have the masters then get into talks with Vince and get them.
I know i had heard a while back that Ray didn't want it release because he said that he didn't play good or something.

Well wasn't that the whole point of BMR to quote

" This is the real thing, as the Doors played it, without intrusive overdubs or fixes. While technical glitches remain and the tape sound is sometimes primitive , the performance quality and historical significance makes Bright Midnight Archives releases essential in any Doors collection."

One quick last thought the Doors should release Seattle 70 as well

Their best bet would probably be to release both concerts together, but I think they're going to start avoiding multi-disc sets at this point.  They should just release each one as cheap 2-disc digipaks, like Vancouver.

Seattle, Bakersfield, London and Stockholm. Jeff said waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back Bruce was working on Stockholm (whatever that meant). I guess they have London but somebody with more info might be able to share it here. After these 4 releases...Robby might be right, they might just be scraping at the bottom of the barrel. Of course if you spread them over several years you can keep the Doors live running for another decade or more. This is a goooood topic though, worth keeping alive no question. Although the headline might need to be tweaked since AL is done now.

Well there are post Morrison shows which could be released too, but first FC/OV would need to be released first!

There are good quality post-Morrison shows that could be released. Particularly the July 21, 1972 Chicago show broadcast on the radio that circulates. There are others as well. I hope to see the whole scope represented from the 1966 London Fog show due out to the band's end in 1973.

In my opinion, I don't think only one facet of their career should be represented. Sure, the Morrison era material is what we all want but I love the Doors' music from beginning to end. Again, just my opinion.

Roughie, technically, Other Voices and Full Circle have been officially released. I doubt that they will see a physical release. If they ever decide to release OV/FC era shows, they will more than likely release them as downloads. There just isn't enough of a market for this era, hence the release of OV and FC as downloads only.

Downloads would be a perfect option for post-Morrison shows (though I always prefer physical releases). Anyone who has seen the Bremen 5/3/72 footage or heard the audio knows the Doors were still a very capable and energetic band. They do an excellent version of Love Me Two Times and Verdilac at the show.

I would say that while the Morrison-ers is where the money is at ,

by releasing the post Morrison material your introducing fans to a different side,

notice i said different not better or worse just different.

Some of the Post Morrison shows do have the same setlists but

this pattern was started in the Morrison ere (i.e. WB/AS, 5to1, BDM).

There are some real jems that  was stated before and to have recordings of

them just seems like a waste if your going to take advantage of it.

I have never quite been convinced about the Baltimore show from May 10, 1970. Does it exist?

And what about Winterland, Long Beach (February 1970), Denver, Hawaii (April 1970) and other 1969 shows? Have they been taped in a better-than-audience-tape quality?

I agree. It seems unlikely that the Doors set out on the road to record the May 1, 2 & 8th shows then declined to record the 10th. I find that somewhat hard to believe. It also seems possible that some other shows (perhaps some September '69 and February '70) shows exist beyond what we know circulates.

I should have been more specific. I meant I awnt the OV/FC as official CDs. Even if it were a limited run. Being a collector, I must have everything. As much as it pains me to admit it, downloads for post Morrison shows are probably the best idea. Heck even if they made a cd box set that included ALL the studio albums with OV?FC that would keep me happy.. and yes it is all about me! hehe! I get a little annoyed (maybe it's the purist in me or my OCD) when I see "The Complete Studio Recordings" when it blatantly isn't.

Anyway I'm looking forward to LF and Matrix and whatever else the boys throw our way this year!
