This is local So Cal News for us so when they mentioned drugs and showed the guy in the back of the police car after being captured, you could tell he was on something hard and weird.... not the average variety drugs, I mean.

It looked like he was the type who was deliberate, so I wouldn't be surprised if he is a Doors nut amoungst other things.

Then again, there is randomness and chaos.

Morrison once lived at the home with his girlfriend, Pamela Courson.

Authorities termed firefighters' efforts a "major save" because the house is old and nestled in a hillside area with a high density of brush.

One firefighter was injured in a fall from a ground ladder, officials said. He was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

After a string of 19 arson fires overnight, police are on tactical alert and the Los Angeles Fire Department has doubled the number of arson teams on call. Many of the fires were started in cars or carports, officials said.

They come one day after police arrested Samuel Arrington, 22, of Sunland in connection with three arsons that occurred on a five-block stretch of Sunset Boulevard on Thursday morning.

Just heard this on the national news moments ago.  An incredible piece of rock history just went up in flames.  I hope they catch this serial arsonist and light his "balls" on fire!  I had a fantasy for years about purchasing that house.  It had been up for sale recently and the price didn't seem that outrageous.

You don't know what kind of addiction he probably has and you don't what the effects of his mental illness and/or drug addiction. These people hear voices that tell them to do that shit.

You yourself couldn't be on a jury because you have already stated your personal investment in this situation. You wanted to possess the house yourself. Do you know what would be best to plant at the house if you did get if for yourself? How about Morning Glory?

What part of Rock History was supposedly lost? This is a serious question. We have the history. We share the history.

Alls I am saying is that there is a lot more to Rock than some wooden balcony. Rock is herb. Roots, Rock, Reggae.

Wow...another "liberal"???  Perhaps...we already have too many loopholes which allow criminals to squeeze through.  I'm sticking with burning his balls off.  And yes, I'm assuming the arsonist is a "male".  I could care less what his excuse is for doing what he did.  He needs to be brought to justice and face the music.

Hello? I am not a Liberal. The suspect needs Jesus. A Liberal is against drugs because it influences music. Music influences drug use.

Criminals are dealt with, God destroyed the Canaanites and made everything ready for the Land of Israel to be built. Of course the modern country of Israel has nothing to do with the OG Land of Israel. There weren't even Jews when the Land of Israel was founded if that tells you anything. Joshua's army invaded Canaan around fought the battle of Jericho around 1300 BC and Jews weren't until 500 BC (i.e. there were no Jews in ancient Egypt).

I am saying that drug addiction is the reason. Jim Morrison was a drug addict too and became a casualty of usage.

Edit: I appologize, the drug addict they arrested was the day before and he only set 5 fires in Hollywood while this Rothdell Trail fire was one of 19 fires set earlier today.

Cars set on fire, huh?

I am considering that this could be "social outrage", that there's such a motive behind. These things have been going on in Europe for some time in areas where police has had to deal with young people setting things on fire, maybe it's slowly finding its place and time in USA as well.

Ok, since you want to take it deeper, the social outrage that young people have in Europe could be shifting to youth in the US. However, those in Europe do it in a group setting. They participate to belong. The loner arsonist in LA is not part of a group, at least not this one which set the 5 fires. Here, it is just craziness. There is no underlying political messsage as those 'car burnings' in Europe or even burnings during riots here in the states.

For instance, during the LA Watts riots of the 60s and then Rodney King-era 1992 LA, there were car burnings, but it was more of a directed rage. Everyone knew what the car burnings were symbolizing back during those specific times of unrest. There is no unrest going on in LA now.

This 19-fire thing could be organized with many people. In such a case, it is a 'conspiracy' felony charge. Meaning, if two people conspire to commit a crime, then them getting together to plan it is a felony charge in itself in addition to any misdmeanor charges he may have picked up.

Your portrayal of liberals is beyond ridiculous. I am a liberal and proud of it. Liberals are not at war with Christmas. That is just plain silliness. Liberals are not attacking marriage. They support the right of all people, gay, straight and bisexual, to get married. That is a pro-marriage stance. Conservatives attack marriage by attempting to deny the right of same-sex couples to marry. Thankfully, their efforts failed here in NY. When the Proposition 8 battle makes its way to the Supreme Court and marriage equality is made legal at the federal level just as interracial marriage and abortion were, it will be a sad day for the likes of you who would deny equality to same-sex couples. The United States is moving in a socially progressive direction. Get on board or get out of the way.

Police: More cars set afire in LA, arson suspected

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Several more cars burned in suspected arson attacks in the Los Angeles area early Saturday morning, and authorities investigated if they were connected to nearly two dozen deliberately set blazes a day earlier, police said.

Seven or eight cars burned Saturday in the North Hollywood area, said officer Robert Collier.

He said he didn't have further details of the blazes, but said arson is suspected and there could be a link to the earlier blazes.

"We believe there might be, but we don't know for sure," he said.

Fire officials said the first report came in shortly after midnight, and the most recent about three hours later.

Early Friday morning, fires were reported in nearly two dozen locations in Hollywood and the neighboring city of West Hollywood during a four-hour period before dawn. In nearly every case, the fire started in a parked car.

Flames from torched vehicles ignited some nearby houses early Friday, including one once occupied by Doors frontman Jim Morrison.

But Collier said that although some of Saturday's blazes are in carports and garages, he didn't have any reports of damage to buildings.

Police up a command post in the North Hollywood area and have called a tactical alert, allowing them to call in more officers.

No arrests have been made and no injuries reported.

Another car fire was reported around 7 p.m. Friday in an underground garage in Hollywood that fire officials were investigating for possible links to the series of arson blazes. Los Angeles Fire Capt. Jaime Moore said that a connection hasn't been ruled out.

Arson investigators "consider it to be an incendiary fire similar to the fires from this morning," he told The Associated Press.

The new fires broke out even as authorities beefed up patrols and urged the public to remain vigilant overnight.

Officials announced at least $35,000 in rewards for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible.

All of the Friday's fires were in a 2-square mile area and most were in densely populated residential neighborhoods where residents would likely be asleep.

Authorities interviewed witnesses and looked for any video footage that may have captured the person, or people, responsible for the spate of crimes. Investigators from four agencies met for a strategy session, while Los Angeles officials summoned investigators from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Fire officials couldn't say whether the rash of fires was the work of a copycat. There was a series of other arson fires early Thursday, also in Hollywood. Two people have been arrested and remain in custody for those blazes, officials said.

One of the homes was in Laurel Canyon, where Morrison and his girlfriend once lived, neighbors said. The winding road was the inspiration for the Doors' hit "Love Street," and the house was listed for nearly $1.2 million earlier this year, according to real estate website Zillow.com.

And I can't believe the craziness of whom ever is setting these fires!  10 more set today(Sat.)  It is so sick and sad.  I feel bad for the residents who must be so afraid at night!
