It's aaaaaall coming together, not final yet, but proceeding well!

As soon as I have announcements to make, you'll know!

One thing we're working on - a special, limited-run numbered box of 4 singles on vinyl for Record Store Day Black Friday.....for both The Doors and Janis Joplin. Doors box still being worked out, but looks like 3 singles from L.A. Woman.....I'll let you know when I have something concrete. Right now, anything can be waylaid, canceled, held up or changed, so I can't make any pronouncements. Yet.

Ok, here's a quick idea I just had. Break out the master tapes to Hyacinth House. Bounce them over to pro tools so you can add a bunch more tracks. I always thought that song could have more potential. Add some big ol' horns and brass to it, maybe a buncha backup singers. Make it grow into this big finale. The bones are already there in the song. This is doable. Turn it into something completely different, maybe even add some "modern" drumming over dubs. Put the thing out there as a single and the guys can make even MORE money! I'm telling you Jeff, it's an interesting thought! It's not that well known of a Doors song in a sense, so maybe the public would really buy into it. I live with a marketing genius and know of what I speak!
(And I'm NOT kidding about any of this idea....)

Hmmm, to be honest I'd be horrified if The Doors started doing this. The remixes were interesting and, although not for everyone, a welcome reissue series for me because I think some of the original mixes never sounded great on CD. Now I've got those as my CD versions and the vinyl boxset as my original mix go-to versions. Adding modern overdubs though??? I couldn't stand it. Orange County Suite sounds completely fake to me. I'd run a mile if The Doors started doing any more modern overdubs - I'd run 10 miles if session musicians did it.

Hey Jeff, did Entourage call about using any songs for the final season? I think it would be a shame if they didn't since there have been a bunch of Doors songs throughout the series. Please feel free to add any new LAW updates here as well. Thank you.

Pats Radio

:)

Isn't 'Entourage' a bit too outdated for Doors music? No real need to get caught up in their Juju vibes.

However, it would be nice to tie a new release of 'LA Woman' in with some program or movie which actually has relevance.

There are a number of new hour long cable series which are set in Los Angeles that would blend well with an 'LA Woman' Doors tune, 'Franklin and Bash' for instance.

Wrong. The Doors music is perfect for a show like Entourage or say Californication. In fact, in the opening of Californication they show a pic of Jim in L.A. It promotes the band and that's how you generate new business. Here's hoping we see more Doors music in shows of today.
