I'd be shocked if audio was why they didn't want the box. Suits don't care about that stuff. They are bottom line guys period. That's what they are concerned about more than anything. MONEY!!!! That's the corporate world. Can't do anything about that. That is what Jeff is up against most likely.

I don't know how they'd make a 5 disc box using exclusive alt takes for only 5-6 songs and photos from 1 photographer in a single rehearsal space.  Band/inner circle also have shoddy or selective memories of events 4 decades ago.

A download that out of sync with all other LAW release dates may not even cover JJ and Botnick's fees.  Especially if it's $50 for a pile of MP3s the purchaser licenses rather than "owns".  While the box has manufacturing and photo rights expenses, download version still has to give 30% to iTunes.

Plus it'll just be put on a russion cd for purchase like OV/FC.  Hope they put out the mono debut on cd too(any other legal download only single version like BOT or LMTT that still await first official cd release?)

How many people do you think have paid for the mono debut digital download or OV official downloads?

You´d be surprised to learn how BIG a business Itunes is.

I don´t know about the russian mafia, go ask them.

I am positive the LA Woman 5 discs download will have at least between 2000 and 3000 downloads within the first 14 days on Itunes.

I too want the box and when I see how many inferior releases get the box-treatment, I am astounded LA Woman will not get it.

What are talking about here: The Monkees, The Smiths, Smile, Grateful Dead.-

I can assure you something else is afoot here.

I am not too sure it is within Rhino the problems are.

It could very well be within The Doors camp itself.

How would the 2-3 thousand know the download exists?  Download boxset is not included on the press campaign for all the other LAW goodies released in January.

Kids won't know it's there and original fans are more prone to be technophobic or simply opting not to buy the download in silent protest for lack of factory pressed cds.

I too think someone in the Doors camp got cold feet or derailed approval.  Holding back release for a couple years to get Robbie demos, Paris Blues, aborted LAW sessions and Jim OV stuff would make this a must buy boxset with far more potential if the Rothschild estate is holding them and willing to share.

Most just find the thought of a boxset of unheard Doors studio stuff unprofitable compared to other releases like the new SACD/vinyl, Vancouver and other Rhino sets etc..

Honestly, where do you get this stuff? "someone in Doors got cold feet?" Haven't you been reading anything Jeff has written? This is NOT a doors issue, this is a corporate issue. It's fairly obvious. Do you plan on writing ANY facts or just keep making up stories and seeing what sticks? My God it's first rate comedy.

Would Jeff write if there was something afoot in the Doors camp?

I think it is VERY strange that inferior releases are getting the box-treatment and LA Woman DOESN´T!

I want to get this straight: Is it for SURE the 5 cd set is being released in the U.K.? If so, we at least know we can always buy that version.

This is what is official so far.  Plus the DVD/Blu LAW documentary.

Even if the box is UK only it's probably too late for manufacturing to hit the late January release date.  Late 2012 would compete against Hollywood Bowl, Matrix/Fog and other packages that Jampol made passing mention of potential release in the very near future.

I maintain that I don't anticipate the 4-5 disc version seeing daylight in any form including download.  Hardcores fans know more about about what will NOT be including that what will be be included.

This was just tweeted from the official Doors twitter page: http://www.gibson.co...oman-1114-2011/

It says the 2-CD version comes out on Nov 25 and provides a listing of different tracks for the second disc than we've seen here. Normally I'd disregard this as misinformation, but it was posted from the official Doors page. Jeff, any comments?

Steve Hoffman made a pair of revealing comments over on the Hoffman Forum regarding the boxset, then deleted them within 10 minutes.

IMO, I think the current cd sales market is a "red herring" excuse and that even the box download won't see daylight.

what did Hoffman have to say?

Jeff won't know.  He's not even sure what's going on with the L.A. Woman 40th anniversary C.D. release's.  Your best bet is to contact Acoustic Sounds directly for more info. For those interested, here's where you can find the 200 gram Vinyl and SACD Doors release's.

Reading the topic of the LA Woman Super Deluxe Box Set release the last few days, I am hopeful like many of you that this special release will go forward in 2012.  For those concerned about the release, please hang in there and be patient with Jeff and the Doors Music Co.  This promises to be a very special release and I have total confidence with Jeff and the Doors that this release will go forward.  Personally speaking I cherish the possibility of a 5-CD box set release that Jeff is clearly and passionately working on. I waited over 20 years for David Gilmour and Nick Mason (i.e. the remaining directors of Pink Floyd) to release super-expanded releases of several PF albums (which finally occurred in 2011) and have full confidence that our pre-orders of the LA Woman Super Deluxe Box Set will be forthcoming in 2012.

RSD vinyl box can now be bought on ebay, but likely can't be had before Friday.

The trio of LAW outtakes should be hitting the web very soon.

- But why would Jeff suggest the possibility of a 5 cd release of LA Woman and after learning our positive reactions, announce that the release will happen?

I mean didn´t he clear it beforehand w/ Rhino, The Doors and Botnick?

My guess is there is something on the outtakes that someone just recently learned and takes offense to.

It is highly illogical for Rhino to go back on their word after Jeff has declared "we will do the 5 cds outtakes".

Don't listen to DoorsfanPeter, he was absent the day they they taught manners and class. Pay no intention to what is behind the curtain.
