We're working it out...Rhino US wasn't feeling the 5 CD Box Set, wanted to do it as a digital download only....but I think Rhino UK wants to do it, so if THEY do, then the US division probably will, too.

Too soon to tell, but looks pretty good. Stand by. Either way, it WILL be available digitally, but I really want this Box Set to be available, so I'm fighting the good fight. Stay tuned.

Jeff,

Since the LA Woman "Super-Deluxe Edition" box will be available in one form or another (at a minimum as a download), why not post the track listing and include online sound samples?  You might be surprised how many folks pre-order the CD version if a track listing is posted.  Given the release date is January, surely the track listing is finalized by now?

Would you be able to post the track listing for the super deluxe edition here today?  The below screen capture of the product listing for the 5 disc box omits a tracklisting, instead highlighting the "rich editorial content used in the App."

Hey Jeff, is it possible to make a really limited amount for the box to work say 1,000????

Also, if the UK Warners wants it can they do it without the US Warners meaning we could buy the box in UK????

Actually no, I won't buy the set if it's only available in mp3. Unlike some schmucks, I don't just purchase things by default. I consider carefully what I want. What I want is the 5-disc set I pre-ordered and was charged for over 2 months ago. I'm not interesting in paying a cent for anything less than that.

The only comedy on here is the tragic nonsense that you seem intent on posting every time anyone else has anything sensible to say.

Even so, thanks for knowing more about what I'll do than I know. Appreciate your help.

So let me get this straight. You've probably bought a bootleg in your lifetime which the sound is rubbish but yet won't buy this with sound quality far beyond that? Yeah not buying it. You'll buy it. Nice try though.

I think messageboards like this one are an overrated and exaggerated form of democracy.

Let's just have faith in Jeff – he will do what he can. Life will continue, even without an L.A. woman 5 discs box. We could use some more respect on this board.

Why is that so strange? I won't buy it neither. Usually I always buy the Rhino stuff but I have never bought anything which has to do with digital or mp 3 format. Not interesting for me, need something to touch, see and feel ;-)

First it was a vote for 5 CD's over 4.  Now it might be a download?  Sounds like you don't have control over the distribution of this doors product as the manager.

Distribution of the kind some of you want is obviously no longer "in time" and when it's due did face opinions from those involved in the process.  Why does it have to mean that Jeff does not have control? Product has been put on delay so goes to show that nothing is "finished" for distribution even if there's a vision/idea to present, probably now opinions coming in about it. Makes perfect sense. I wish Jeff the best, can only imagine all the people one has to get through!

Jeff, you know what kills me? How Rhino just re-issued a THREE disc ultimate set of the Monkee's album "Instant Replay"! My god, I don't think anyone cared about or bought that thing when it came out 40 years ago!
"Instant Replay" was a top 40 album in the U.S. Rhino has a long history with the Monkees, and Rhino Handmade has been releasing 3-disc sets of their latter-day albums. "Instant Replay" is the next in order, and is jam-packed with rare and previously unreleased material. It seems like a very worthwhile release for Monkees fans. I'm looking forward to it.

Jeff had mentioned that the "L.A. Woman: Super-Deluxe Edition" would be available though Rhino Handmade, so I thought that they might be involved in its production. If that had been the case, I bet it would done well as a Rhino Handmade release. "L.A. Woman" is certainly as much a classic as a number of other albums that were given the Rhino Handmade treatment.

I was actually wondering if one of the sticky points here is the LIMITED release of this set.Perhaps that is what (among other things 2 B sure) is giving Rhino "cold-feet".So,i am not entirely sure making this set REALLY limited is gonna help. The root cause here,it seems,i could be wrong (have been many times) that Rhino would not be turning over any reasonable profit on such a big box. That really at it's core contains mainly the same songs over & over  in various incarnations up to their album released completed forms.

I see Rhino has released many a box sets as of late (and during holiday seasons).Would be a shame if Jeff and the guys couldn't convince Rhino to do the right thing for the hardcore Doors' nuts that have loved this band for many a year.

I myself placed two orders for this box set when it became available.I DO NOT want this box set as a download only.Besides i wonder how they'd do this.Go to itunes and you'll be able to purchase ONLY the first two cds of the 40th LAW set and all the other outtakes, demos, rough mixes (whatever you call them) would only be listed as an "Album Only" song.

Please Jeff and those that are fighting the good fight w/ you,do all that you can.I read that your as disappointed as many of us here.I have come to appreciate ALL that you and your guys do for us fans behind the scenes,so keep on,keeping on.And to Rhino,please...

Let's get this done!

They can't make a profit on $400,000 by dusting off some outtakes and old photo negative and manufacturing a book/box?  $100 per box limited to 4,000(Perception digital AND vinyl releases did that a couple times over, debut album in mono has probably done when released solo, I'm sure the FF box did way more than 4,000.

And that's not counting the associated income from RSD vinyl, workshop vinyl, DVD, BLU, associated merch, TV rights for documentary, 2 disc version, 1 disc, downloads, video downloads(?) and perhaps a bump in sales for Ray/Rob tix.

I want to know if RHINO made the decision with a preliminary tracklist or not, let alone them hearing audio samples.

Yeah,i sure would ike to see a complete tracking listing for this box myself.Whose to say that the "tracks" themselves are even complete.Meaning a beginning, middle and end.Maybe there are more than a few like "Carol" found on the '06 Perception Set.Didn't that clock in at like 39,40 seconds?

The 2Cd version only says "alternate version", so it coul dbe half a incomplete take with the remix lp version edited together.

Either way, the alternate ROTS, LHM and Changeling should be hitting the web in about 3 days or so.

I'd be shocked if audio was why they didn't want the box. Suits don't care about that stuff. They are bottom line guys period. That's what they are concerned about more than anything. MONEY!!!! That's the corporate world. Can't do anything about that. That is what Jeff is up against most likely.

No offense to anyone but i hope the black friday alternate versions are very available! My funds were taken a while ago for preorder and i have no info at all they should be ashamed to run this kind of operation!  It is very strange the tracklist has not been provided, I've never seen a preorder done this silly! Just a guess La Woman box set Release in June 2012 at this rate!!

Received the November 2011 Rhino Newsletter.  I've pasted it below.  Check it out.  Rhino is pushing an 8 CD Smiths CD box set and a Monkee's CD box!  You can't make this stuff up folks.

Hey Jeff - did Rhino say why "they aren't feeling it."  It's almost like the record industry, including Rhino, hasn't met a CD box set they didn't like in 2011.

Steve Hoffman made a pair of revealing comments over on the Hoffman Forum regarding the boxset, then deleted them within 10 minutes.

IMO, I think the current cd sales market is a "red herring" excuse and that even the box download won't see daylight.

A download that out of sync with all other LAW release dates may not even cover JJ and Botnick's fees.  Especially if it's $50 for a pile of MP3s the purchaser licenses rather than "owns".  While the box has manufacturing and photo rights expenses, download version still has to give 30% to iTunes.

Plus it'll just be put on a russion cd for purchase like OV/FC.  Hope they put out the mono debut on cd too(any other legal download only single version like BOT or LMTT that still await first official cd release?)

How many people do you think have paid for the mono debut digital download or OV official downloads?
