Here's what I know:

1. The 5-CD Box Set will feature ALL the outtakes, alternate takes and studio dialogue we have from the LAW sessions;

2. The 7" Singles Box for Record Store Day will feature the three original singles: The Changeling, Love Her Madly, and Riders On The Storm - and then one 7" single featuring alternate takes and studio dialogue of "L.A. Woman" b/w "Riders On The Storm." And the original "Electric Woman" poster. ll boxes will be serial-numbered, only 5000 made.

Hi Jeff

Thanks for the response. I suspect it's too late but can I urge you to try and include the single mixes/edits on the 5-disc edition? It seems a shame to have a completists' version of LA Woman with the original LP mix plus 4 discs of outtakes but not to include the single mixes/edits from the time. I guess you want to have unique content in the 5-disc set and the Record Store Day thing but if there's room somewhere in the 5-disc set (and surely there will be if disc 1 is just the LP) I think these tracks should be there. After all, this is going to be a definitive LA Woman version so the singles should be there too. I have no hope of getting this or any other Record Store Day items so it's frustrating to think I can lay down $100 (plus postage) in a pre-order months in advance but still not have access to a few officially released tracks.

Otherwise the package sounds amazing. I'm really looking forward to it.

Maybe this is old news but it's what i found on idafan.com some time ago:

The Doors Manager Jeff Jampol posted the song listings for the forthcoming 'L.A. Woman 40th Anniversary Edition' 2-CD set on the BMA forum today. He stresses that this is NOT the "40th Anniversary Mixes" version, which they are done with. He adds that this is the Doors Vinyl mastering (with some tweaks) as done by Bruce Botnick, Bernie Grundman and Jac Holzman for The Doors Vinyl Box. So, here is the long-awaited listing: DISC ONE 1. The Changeling [4:24] 2. Love Her Madly [3:39] 3. Been Down So Long [4:44] 4. Cars Hiss By My Window [4:58] 5. L.A. Woman [7:59] 6. L'America [4:34] 7. Hyacinth House [3:13] 8. Crawling King Snake [5:01] 9. The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat) [4:16] 10. Riders On The Storm [7:08] DISC TWO 1. The Changeling (alternate version) [4:45] 2. Love Her Madly (alternate version) [3:59] 3. Cars Hiss By My Window (alternate version) [4:42] 4. L.A. Woman (alternate version) [8:50] 5. The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat) (alternate version) [5:37] 6. Been Down So Long (alternate version) [4:53] 7. Riders On The Storm (alternate version) [9:11] 8. She Smells So Nice / Rock Me [4:41/4:30] [9:11] (thanks, Gilles)

Then, Jeff Jampol posted the track listings for the forthcoming 'L.A. Woman 40th Anniversary vinyl set. All these tracks are described as being alternate versions, with studio chatter in between. SIDE ONE 1. The Changeling 2. Love Her Madly 3. Cars Hiss By My Window 4. L.A. Woman SIDE TWO 1. The WASP (Texas Radio and the Big Beat) 2. Been Down So Long 3. Riders On The Storm SIDE THREE She Smells So Nice/Rock Me (in which Jim can be heard experimenting with the 'Mr. Mojo Risin' line in different ways and melodies). SIDE FOUR NO music. Side Four will be blank, and will have a "3D-Effect" laser etching double-image of the "Electric Crucified Woman" artwork by Carl Cossick from the original album. (thanks, Jamie)

Also,not sure if i read correctly (more importantly completely understood) but according to the dvd that is coming out in support of the LAW album,on some level anyway-support,it's sounds to me as if Ghost Riders In The Sky will be in the songs being heard.Not sure if this IS an outtake of A Doors' song.Meaning a Cover of the old  song,dare i say classic (know the song,like the song).Jeff,if this song somehow featured in this so-called doc. of the album,i mean the the Doors' cover?And if so,i will than assume it WILL be on the 5 cd limited edition.

I ask this only because i HAD heard this or read that the Doors' were fooling around,somewhat,in the studio w/ this particular song and that is what ULTIMATELY led to Riders on the Storm.I just hope that GRITS was captured in the studio,no matter in which form.

And,one more question,are ANY of the sessions that Paul was in on during the LAW recording represented on either this set or the forthcoming 5 cd limited version?Interested in hearing some earlier versions of LAW and RIOTS.But also,in a weird way if there is in-fact some interesting dialogue during these times.Do we ACTUALLY get to hear Mr. Rothchild ON TAPE refer to the band's music as "cocktail"?

Thx
