Guys, please!

Jeff and I just went thru a bad break-up. We tried to make it work, but we just couldnīt patch it up.

I was too busy and Jeff stayed at home, cooking and what-not.

I guess I didnīt notice the small things he did for me.

So cool your horses, he will eventually get back to you w/ exciting new projects.

That's cool. In the meantime, are we free to have a discussion about it since, you know, this is a forum and all.

Yes, like a girl jumping out of a cake with the Matrix and Fog taped to her boobs. Happy Birthday.

Have you been reading my wish book again?

So you're asking for stories/photos from the HB, please tell me that isn't the next release?

In one of the threads here there is a photo of Jim doing a soundcheck at the Bowl, you should check that out, I'm sure the photographer must have more.

The perspective of having the Bowl before London Fog and Matrix or especially the LAW 3CD set (or digital...) is discouraging.
Well but the thing is that it would be nice to have something as fast as possible. Not many news lately.
I wonder if a planned schedule of the new releases would be able to create great excitement and motivation in the people?
This is the year of The Doors and it's been kind of a quiet year. Very quiet.

Quiet??? Not really buying that. We've had LAW singles set, LAW 2 disc set, LAW vinyl, LAW DVD all since November!!! I'd say the opposite really. We've had A LOT. The "Year of the Doors" as Jeff said is from November '11 til the end of this year. Looooong way to go here. I'd like to know what's next too as some of my posts have asked but to say it's been quiet? Yeah, not much weight behind that. Sorry. I'm standing by too as are you and others. Hoping Jeff comes on here soon and lays it out but plenty of time left...

Fog, Matrix, LAW outtakes (maybe), HB and collectable. Sounds pretty good.

There is no way, no chance, no how that a 3 CD set, the Matrix, the Fog and the Hollywood Bowl are all going to be released within the span of a few months with no official announcements and no advertisements as of yet. Being optimistic, we may get 2 of those releases, 1 of which will be the Hollywood Bowl which is fine by me.

Yes, that's my idea too Encuentro. With so many titles being talked for a release in this year of The Doors, I was expecting a little more action and shorter time between the releases.

I'm OK and I understand other perspectives and I also understand the market conditions are not the best ones for more than 2 releases a year.
I wish London Fog will be given priority, then Matrix.

Although it might be interesting to have an improved, as much complete as possible HBowl release, I hope this will not be the next one.
For long time we have been waiting for a video release but this would not be my priority. There are, perhaps some other alternatives and my absolute, shining alternative would be the Roundhouse shows. This is for sure the best - as far as I know of - filmed stuff from our favourite band. Steaming performances of a band on its peak and for sure the best demonstration of the importance of this band in R&R history. a perfect year of The Doors should consider this. I'm always surprised about the lack of visible, and I repeat: visible, interest of the band to get this material and to release it properly. B&W? Great. Some more material must exist on the archives of Granada Television. Jim classified those nights as some of the best performances they ever did.

Well you haven't been paying attention then. Jeff said just that a while back. So until I hear otherwise, no reason to believe they won't. The only one which is a maybe is the LAW outtakes that Jeff did say "isn't dead" either. Standing by...

Absolutely! This performance, the one filmed for The Doors Are Open, if additional footage exists and is acquirable, should be a priority. This is, in my opinion, The Doors Holy Grail.

As one of my friends told me years ago (He co-owned Rhino Records), when I asked him "what are you going to do after you run out of stuff to reissue", he calmly replied:
"Reissue the reissues".

I believe if there will be some interest to invest in the future, there will be much stuff for years of releases.
From what we know there's still some items in the vaults. Some will be out as physical releases some as digital.

But anyway who could imagine 5 years ago that today we would be be discussing a release of The London Fog?

If we look to other bands those years of 67-71 were rich in live recordings. Some are from very good quality. It was the golden era of R&R and there's still some stuff slowly coming out. If there's recordings for many other less mediatic bands why not Doors recordings? It doesn't make sense. For some reasons, this band is highly ranked in those circles. Some of this material is already lost some will be lost but I hope some will come out. Let's hope some more will coming out in conditions that will turn possible an official interest. The London Fog proved this is possible.

From the stuff we know about I already pointed out an obvious example: the Roundhouse shows. They are obviously the best we can hope. I'm amazed this never happened. We don't know much about how much was filmed and how much still exists. BBC had a policy of erasing but what about Granada TV? If the shows were recorded in it entirity then this would be an amazing and obvious top ranking release. This stuff would put The Doors in the first league of released video stuff among the historical R&R bands. What do we have today? The Hollywood Bowl? It's cool but not at the same level. If The Doors want to preserve their legacy and getting the interest of new generations this would be a smart investment. It would sell for years bringing consistently new fans to the band. This is all about what an investment should be. The Hollywood Bowl will never bring much interest because unfortunately Jim was not explosive like he was in London.

For sure there's still studio stuff being kept (and out there), there's still live stuff being kept (and out there) and there's still some stuff from Jim's poetry sessions that's being kept (fortunately we already know the quality of some of that stuff...). I'm not worried about the lack of stuff. Today there's one official policy but things change. They always do.

Let's hope for the best in the coming years.

Yeah, it has had the vibe of a morgue around here, but to maybe resuscitate, if I had my way, I'd like to see The Fog and Matrix come next. And if the LAW outtakes do see the light of day, as I broached before, I'd like to see them released in a similar fashion as the "outtake" disc on the LA Woman 40th--meaning as somewhat as close to an alternate LA Woman album, as opposed to sequencing the same song over and over again where it gets redundant. Kind of like on the Morrison Hotel remaster with 40-plus straight minutes of "Roadhouse Blues" outtakes--and don't get me wrong, those were interesting to listen to, just didn't have the same repetitive panache as the LAW outtake disc, which in my opinion is just as good if not better than the original. I wouldn't expect the remaining outtakes to rival that, as I'm sure they picked the best for that release, but you never know. Even if they edit the proposed 3-CD release to a 2-disc set to have it have more of an "album" like feel, with just false starts and studio dialogue segueing songs, it'd be a hell of release, and arguably, two more "live" LAW-era albums, as that's the feel I get when listening to the outtake version that's already out there...

Hey Jeff, does this mean the downloads are never coming? Remember those fossils??? Is the music industry completely chaos right now or what? Seems like every time I turn around there is another law suit or somebody is suing somebody else for royalties. The only "true" winners here are the ambulance chasers. I'd love to hear your take on this. Thanks.
