I'm curious about the sound quality, but this show was far more better than the June 5th show in Seattle where Jim was bored and uninspired.
Vancouver is absolutely worth the money!

- Summertime
- St. James infirmary blues

I'm very hopeful about the Vancouver version of LMF. I wish they had done this vamp at more concerts. Although the Boston release has this, Jim is seriously inebriated, and pulls an Elvis (later years) at the end of the song and massacres/hums the lyrics.
Hopefully Jim's a bit more sober on this version... fingers crossed.

From what I remember reading somewhere, it's not a hum, Jim just pulled a Jimbo at the Boston show and sang the entire last verse of LMF with the microphone in his mouth, and unless there was peanut butter on the mic, it's safe to say he didn't pull a later-years Elvis in Boston.
But I agree, I'd like to hear more live songs of The Doors vamping, I especially like the Pittsburgh "When the Music's Over/Soft Parade" vamp, and the Live in New York second show, second set finale, of "Gloria/My Eyes Have Seen You," the latter being some pretty heavy stuff which kinda reminded me of the crescendo of the Jefferson Airplane's "Other Side of this Life" on their live Bless Its Pointed Little Head album, both being one hell of a way to an end a song/show...

What show did the Doors open for Led Zeppelin? Reading SD's JM: LDL book and can't find it. I want to know if there's a soundboard/boot of that show yet. Surfaced yet?

I am still amazed at the sonic quality of the 8 track live recordings released so far (Felt, Detroit, etc). They sound like they were recorded today, with the latest technology.
With all the bitching that goes on, on this forum, we are all lucky SOBs that The Doors recorded many of their performances in such high quality. They were very forward thinking to do this.
With that said, hopefully some of the 1968 concerts will see the light of day. That would be a hoot.

I'm sure that Bruce did his magic with Vince's tapes. I remember when I first listened to this show, back in '98, in the Box Set. I was blown away, especially with "Rock Me".
I'm looking forward to listen how Bruce improved the sound of that amazing gig.
Thanks again, Jeff.

Don't worry. This version of LMF is wonderful. Not an explosive version but one with great feeling inside. The St. James infirmary blues - Fever passage is amazing.
I was hoping for Bakersfield not because it's better than Vancouver but because there's some songs that we never listened. But Vancouver is a great show, and the part where Albert King-Doors jam justifies the release by itself. Those who never listened this show are really lucky now.

I'd give it 'til the end of next week, we're designing a special package only available for preorder customers, and as always, I'll have Ray, Robby & John autograph 10 copies, which we will give away randomly to 10 lucky preorder customers. So, if you preorder at www.thedoors.com, you MAY get a little more than you bargained for!

I would pre-order at thedoors.com if the shipping prices wouldn't be that HIGH. But it's really cool that all BMA releases are available at retail stores.
About the packaging: there are so many wonderfull photos from this concert shot by Frank L., will some be included???
Thanks

"There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors."
Thats damn right
Can't wait for this show to come out
and get the proper treatment it deserves
Keep your fingers crossed that Bakersfield will be done someday soon
