Hi mel,
Yeah, i never see anybody there when I go, but I haven't been this year.

Maybe those photos you have with the pics on her grave are new??

Yes, The wall is still there with the "Morrison, Pamela Susan".  In 2005, it was removed for 2 days when there was a funeral for someone else, and I could see her ashes.  But they put the wall back after 2 days.

Why should they go there? It's not a must to visit graves.

mel - i highlight my hair--nowadays i add a couple of different reds. there's still natural red, but just not as much. don't have the guts yet to do perm dye. it will eventually come to that.

thanks mizscarlett! lots of good info here.

p.s. the first time i ever really knew 'the doors' was the time i spent as my friend's house when i was 11. her sister (5 years older than us) would have that famous poster of jim on her wall that you could see from the door--mesmerizing. she was always playing them. sadly, she passed at 23, so i hope she gets to hang with him once in a while now...and he sings/reads poetry to her.
Your hair looks great mel!

I go there because I am interested to know if other people care about Pam.....I don't think they do, because I NEVER see anybody.

Well, Ray was there in person living the legend, becoming one himself...He was close to Jim til the drinking got in the way of the voices in Jim's head, from my understanding that's why he drank so much...to ease the voices. Ray would know if Pam was a true red head or not.:rolleyes:This is a fine collection of photos of Pam...she has pretty teeth, among other things.

One time in 2005, the wall was gone, and I could see the cardboard box that had her ashes in it.  It was covered with dust and spider webs and a few more pictures of Pam and Jim on it.  No one was there.

Terrible. What a sad image. When in 2005 was this? I visited her grave in ... I believe it was August 2005, and it was as you described with the black & white photo. I left a white rose and I think there might have been another flower there too. The groundskeeper/administrator was very sarcastic about Pamela and her following. He did take the time to explain how to find her crypt though, if that's what it's called, and even drew a little map.

BTW, for those who asked if Pamela dyed her hair - I remember Diane Gardiner (Norton Ave neighbor/friend and IIRC Elektra employee) in a radio interview emphasizing that Pam's dark red hair was natural. And that sometimes she would diet taking in no nourishment but pomegranite juice.

Pam was apparently a natural strawberry blonde--which makes her a natural redhead as far as I'm concerned--who later dyed her hair darker and redder.

PS: Welcome to the board!

I can't answer the pomegranite juice claim by Diane, but I can talk about Pamela's hair. When I met her she had what was commonly called either a strawberry blonde or very light red hair. It was certainly much lighter than the Themis pictures.

Mirandi Babitz also said at one point that Pamela's hair was similar to a strawberry blonde. I understand from others who knew Pamela that her hair color did change shades over the years. She liked to experiment.

Was Pamela's hair lighter and did she dye it darker red or was it a natural dark red and dyed to go lighter? I don't know. I don't think Diane did either. All I know for sure is that it was strawberry blonde (light red) when I met her.

Casey would waltz
With the strawberry blonde
And the band played on.
He'd glide 'cross the floor
With the girl he'd adore
And the band played on.
But his brain was so loaded
It nearly exploded
The poor girl
Would shake with alarm
He'd ne'er leave the girl
With the strawberry curl
And the band played on.
