The painting is supposed to be by Denny Dent. I have contacted by Denny Dent's website & Pawn Stars to confirm that it is. Denny Dent died a few years ago and while his website is still online no one from there got back to me. Neither has Pawn Stars. Denny Dent was actually an amazing painter, he called himself a Rock 'n' Roll painter & what he did an art attack Denny Dent painting Jimi Hendrix

OH RIIIIGHT !! I remember seeing Denny at WOODSTOCK 94 create enormous canvas paintings on the main stage, I was in the audience, there had to be about 2-3 hundred thousand of us in attendence - mostly stoned, there was a let up in the rain, music started playing and Denny started painting, no one could figure out what he was painting until - with the last few strokes of paint - the image would all of a sudden come together and Jim Morrison's face or Hendrix or Joplin's face or whoever he was painting would suddenly appear ! wow, that was unforgettable !  I didn't realize the painting in the store was by Denny as well, thanks

I've also have seen that poster/painting on Pawn Stars.  It looks so cool!

I'm surprised that the Pawn Star shop didn't answer you back.  You'd figure they're open 24/7!

From what i have read it was featured in one of the little quizzes they do at commercials, indeed painted by Denny Dent and listed as $9500.

Yes, and I love that show Pawn Stars.  Yeah that's a trippy poster.  It would be nice however if the History Channel
would get back to, well, history.

Their site is mostly seems to be about selling the stuff. & their site on the History channel is only about the air times for the show. But you never know I could have had the $9500 burning a hole in my pocket!

I saw that! They had 3 items from their shop and they asked which one cost the most. Of course it was the pic of Jim. Althou, I do not like it.

I must admit that it's cool to see it hanging up there on every episode and( please no offense to anyone that may like it) I always thought it looked tacky.

I was just in the Pawn Stars store the early part of this month. I was really looking forward to seeing this picture of Jim in person after seeing it so much on their show but it wasn't there. In its place was the one of Jimi Hendrix.  I asked one of the people that worked there and they said they sold it not to long ago for $20 grand!  wow  My husband was considering buying it for me but he said no way would he have paid $20 grand.  I was surprised he even said he was considering buying it for me....I have such a great guy!

It is nice art for what it is, and it is cool seeing it on my favorite Monday night show, but it is only about a one-thousand dollar item. The store would likely only pay $500 for something like that. Being featured on the show itself was what jacked up the price.

As an artist myself, I can say that the skill used to create it isn't of a great order, and I suspect you [your husband] could make your own for around $50 in material cost, and you would be more satisfied with it in the long run having created it out of love... and not out of money.

Get a digital projector that attaches to your computer through the USB port, load your favorite Jim Morrison jpg. image, and shine it on a blank canvas or white-primed board then trace the outline. After that, fill it in with brilliant colors [oil paint] and you are done!

I have to agree it's not the best image of JM ive seen,i would not pay any where near what they are asking for it, pehaps that's why its still on the wall, on the show. ;)
