Did that show take place on 5/6/70 at the Fillmore East?

perhaps, I wouldn´t know. But since PK only spent very little time w/ Morrison and I believe around that time- I think she was photographed w/ him- it sounds right.

As far as Thee Experience - which opened in March 1969 and closed its doors in December 1969 - Jim was a pretty regular attendee.

Awesome research, Jim4371. I haven't tried to put the pieces together yet, but happen to have a copy of "I Used To Be An Animal, But I'm All Right Now". I should have checked it earlier. It's Eric's original autobiography, published in 1986. In that book, he goes into a lot more detail about that night at the Fillmore, but there's no mention of the song "San Franciscan Nights". It was right after a vacation in the Bahamas, during which he decided to break up The Animals...

"I jumped on the next plane to San Francisco. The last time I'd been there it was still a land of beatniks and cool jazz. When I touched down I could sense the changes. Even at the airport kids were sporting multi-colored shirts, and open sandals, Indian headbands, long hair and painted faces.
I climbed into a yellow cab, handing the slip of paper to the young long-haired freak at the wheel. Looking at the address as he drove, he spoke to me, turning to face me, looking over his shoulder. 'Where you just come in from?' 'London,' I said, 'via the Bahamas.'
'You in the music business?' he said. 'You pegged me', I said. 'You playing in town?' he inquired. 'No, just looking around. Came in for a quick holiday. My girlfriend (Judi Wong) said there's a lot going on in town.' 'Well, she didn't give you a bum steer, there is a lot going on, there's a lot of good home-grown music coming out of SF at the moment, you'll enjoy it. In fact, if you're into some good blues and boogie, I'd stop by Bill Graham's place at the Fillmore, that's down in the old Haight Ashbury area. I hear they're gonna kick out the jams there tonight. Big Brother and the Holding Company, Country Joe and the Fish, they're all gonna be down there tonight. Take my advice - check it out.'"

(Lots of additional detail that basically conforms to what was written in "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood")

"I was introduced to some of the Grateful Dead crew, and Big Brother and the Holding Company who filed past ready to take the stage. One of the guys yelled to Janis: 'Janis, about 45 minutes, we'll see you out there.'
A long-haired, dark-eyed, good-looking kid leaned in the corner, wearing black leather Western chaps and a huge Western belt and cowboy boots. The lizard king himself. 'Meet Jim Morrison.' 'Hi Jim, how ya doing?' 'All right, man. You guys working here or visiting?'
'Oh, The Animals broke up, man. I'm just hanging out, checking out the scene. It's really great, I love it.'
'Yeah, I've just finished a tour up in Canada. The rest of the guys are in LA. When you coming down there, man? It's a good scene too.'
'Yeah, I mean to,' I said. He handed me a cold can of Budweiser...
The dressing room door opened. A huge, dark-eyed, wide Slavonic face appeared beneath a working man's cap. His sleeves rolled up, it was an extremely busy, no nonsense manager, Bill Graham, who stood in the centre of the room. He smiled warmly. 'Janis, you've got eight minutes, babe, let's go.'...As we made our way down the crowded corridors I walked shoulder to shoulder with Morrison. He told me how he'd studied film in UCLA before joining The Doors and that was his end objective, to make new-wave movies in Hollywood. I told him that I was deeply interested in film and that we should get together and talk later. 'Yeah,' he agreed, 'when you come down to LA we'll get together.'...
No surprise to me that a few weeks later in Life magazine I read about the proclaimed 'Death of the Hippy' by the hippies of Haight Ashbury in San Francisco."

Well there ya go.. none of this could have all happened at once.
The Animals were in the Bahamas in mid-1966 and broke up in September of 1966.
The Doors didn't even tour Canada until a month after Eric Burdon played the Fillmore himself.
And the list goes on.. but it's not really worth it. It didn't happen like he said it did. Just a jumble of memories.

What do you think about the Jefferson Airplane Fillmore East show?

Well I have no idea if she just made it up or what, but etree has these dates for the JA at the Fillmore East: May 3, 6, 7. 10, and 15. All we can say is that it wasn't the 10th. Morrison was in New York on the 11th, though, so it stands to reason he could have been there a few more days.

Oh, and if such a remark from Grace was recorded and circulated, my guess is we would have heard about it with all the crossover fans. So the circulating sets could be compared with all the sets to eliminate some as possibilities.

I thought I already answered that one, but after reviewing the schedule below (courtesy of Kirk Silsbee, who is working on a book on Thee Experience and needs a photo if anyone has one - not the boarded up building, but one of the club when it was open), it was Thursday, Sept. 4, which was the last night.  I had asked to not work during the Delaney & Bonnie stand, as I knew it was going to be a nightmare, and I wouldn't be given a good section to work, because I was relatively new.  I covered for Maddy, whose son Steven was sick and she didn't want leave him with a sitter.  As you can see, Hendrix got up with D&B, but so did various other guitar luminaries, including Stills, Dave Mason, Frank Zappa, you name it.  I called on the Friday, September 5, for my schedule for the next week, and was told I was no longer working there.  

If Jim was in town on any of the following dates, he more than likely stopped in to check these acts out.  Marshall Brevetz, the club owner, used to drive Jim home many nights.  And Jim and Peggy Greene (Raggi) were friends as well.
