What is the overall general opinion of this show? What condition is Jim in? Can somebody post Greg Shaws review from "Doors on the Road"

It's definitely the most boring of all of the AL shows. Jim seems bored throughout.
The 23 minute WTMO is mostly just dragging from Jim's boredom, accentuated by bird calls and random feedback; it's not some epic tour de force.  There are a couple verses of The Soft Parade, a bit of Break on Through, and Jim sings "push push" four times, which the press release apparently refers to as "bits of songs (plural) they'd never performed live."  The only exclusive bit in the entire show is that one word repeated 8 times.
Someday Soon was only recorded the one other time (Seattle), and that version kicks this version's ass.  Jim really doesn't put any energy into it, and when his level of energy is surpassed by Seattle (one of his most lethargic performances) it's really saying something.  It really is very noticeable.  He also forgets some lyrics.

Overall, you'll like it alright, since you haven't heard it, but it probably will spend more time on the shelf than Detroit or Aquarius.  Jim really is intensely bored and it shows.  The band does alright but when Jim's not really into it, they aren't either.  Nothing is exceptional; the only appeal is getting to hear something for first time.

That sucks. I was expecting it to be a great show. The parts I've heard, which include Someday Soon and a portion of WTMO (beginning with the "Push Push" section), are fantastic. I think the Pittsburgh version of Someday Soon is much better than Seattle, and Greg Shaw says the same in his book. Jim does forget some of the lyrics, but the same thing happened in Seattle. I must have heard the best portions of the show, as Jim doesn't sound bored at all.

Thank you for this release!

I am getting quite The Doors collection, here.

It is great to have all these shows to get an overall view of The Doors at this stage of their career.

For me it has nothing to do whether they play good or great, that´s just temperature.

I have shows w/ Miles that suck big time, but Thank God I have these. It gives a unique insight to the artist, and where he wants to go.-

Also so w/ The Doors. Which is also why I love the Seattle Show from 1970.

They take chances, and no one does this today!

And w/ the news of a possible release of Ise of Wight, it doesn´t get better!
we´s just joy-ridin´

According to that press release thing, the beginning of Light My Fire was missing from the 8-track master so it has been patched with part of another concert from 1970. Huh???

If there was a 2-track soundboard to patch in the pre-Close To You dialogue, why wasn't that used for the LMF intro?

I think I'd rather they had faded in the track rather than patch in music from a different show. Oh well...sorry to be the first to complain about something. It probably sounds seemless, I just find it a bit odd that this was necessary and that this was felt to be the best solution. So much for the "warts and all" approach.

Hey it's OK, you just have a different opinion than the other person above. Don't worry your not alone. Any live show with LMF in it is worth the price period. I don't care what intro they use either.

All I have to go by is the portion I've heard, which totals less than 9 minutes. I disgree with regard to those 9 minutes, but the rest could very well be as Jim4371 says. I'm still looking forward to it, though.

I also want to hear this show. Good, bad or indifferent; I want to hear any available shows. We all know Jim didn't give much in Seattle yet at some point many of us still give that show a listen. I'm hoping Pittsburgh will be a bit better than some people here indicate. Either way, I'll be happy to have it.

I remember some "older" members on this board were against release of Boston late because from their perspective it was apparently awful. As they had (still have) some credibility most of other members were led to believe that Boston late is sub par even compared to Seattle. I must say I was one of those members that didn't believe in an entertaining show named Boston late. I admit I was misled. This show rocks and finds it's spot in my CD player most of the time.

Point is, "don't judge a book by looking at it's cover". Take a listen on your own and make a decision.

From Pittsburgh show I don't expect much. Maybe I'll surprise myself as it will sound great or have that "special" moment  that will rock my socks, or maybe I'll just listen to it couple of times and put it aside  to make room for more entertaining music.

But in the end I'll be very grateful to Jeff & The Doors for putting anything/everything out and allowing me to decide what I like better, what I like less and enjoy The Doors live, as they were. Just make these releases as complete as possible.

Vjerchi, your absolutely correct. When it came to Boston some of the "old" guard was ripping the show because Jim was too drunk. The bottom line is there are some terrific performances by ALL members and "Summertime" is on my GYM playlist and Robby's solo is flawless. Loaded or not Jim brought a presence to the stage not many have people have even come close to. The Doors rocked Beantown period.

First of all how could anything from Boston be bad? Really it’s Boston!  Beantown! Home the world champions of everything and where sarcasms still lives.

Tombstoneroad, is correct in saying that every now and then people still give Seattle one more play just because it's not all that bad.  I to played the Pittsburgh clip on YouTub and thought it was great. Vancouver is the same way, in the sense that no one really praises much more than when the music’s over or light my fire from that show? That can be said about a lot of shows that have or haven’t been released.  Every show has at least one or two songs that stand out above all others regardless of time or place, Jim's mood or sound quality of the band. There is no way to tell how good or bad this release is going to be until you buy the polished version.
