Queen, tha guy is not Jim, his name is Joe Russo, from The Soft Parade tribute band, hes a good guy and a friend of the surviving doors, and one of the best impresonators of Jim, he had a jacket of Jim, the light brown he used in the soft parade video with the pastor, and he had a very good and rares photo collection

Yes its Jim, from a Hullabaloo photo sesion, think the photographer was Paul Ferrara in 1968, no Morrison Hotel sesion

It is Jim and that`s Ray in the background looking at him through the window. It was shot in march/april, 1968...probably on the east-coast somewhere, possibly NY.

Is this from the L.A.Woman recordings?  Anyone have any more pics from these sessions?  I've seen a bunch on crystalship.com and others on the web, but I didn't know if anyone had any rare ones.   Having visited this location, I wanted to see and compare the old studio and the restaurant that occupies it now.

I was under the impression that the photo with Ray in that light-colored jacket was the same from the Central Park NYC session which I thought were from the Life Magazine sessions.

The Doors went to Central Park (again, this is March '68) for group shots, then later Linda McCartney took shots of Jim in the same snakeskin suit at The Cloisters.

And then those shots of Jim in the same snakeskin suit in front of the colored blobs by another photographer. All on the same day or over a couple days, in late March, NYC.

Of course, as we all know, their Life Magazine cover was pre-empted by the MLK assassination days later.

No, LBJ was on the original cover before MLK was shot.

As far as I know Life originally intended to use a photo of Jim from the session with their own staff photographer Yale Joel for the cover.Of course when MLK was shot he instead became the natural choice and due to the racial issues in the southern states there was released another cover featuring LBJ as to not upset any of their "southern" readers.

What photos were taken by/for Life magazine in Central Park?I might be mixing up those and the Ferrara shots...

You mean the ones Paul Ferrara shot?

My understanding was that the LBJ cover was the original cover and that, while the run was being printed they changed the cover, inserting the MLK section inside of the previously printed magazines.
Do you have a copy of the issue with the LBJ cover?
The positioning of the MLK section could probably tell us one way or the other; if it's right in the middle then I probably heard right.
