Felt Forum Box Set

Considering how fast the Perception box of 20,000 sold out, maybe this is an indication of a great deal of demand for 5.1 Doors material?
If you release Felt Forum as a hybrid SACD in 5.1, you wouldn't need to have a second disc like with a DVD-A. All audio content, redbook and hi-rez could be contained on individual discs. But you don't get errors like you do with Dualdisc, which is a failed product.
You could have a stereo redbook CD mix on 1 layer. And then the SACD layer could contain both the stereo mix in hi-rez as well as they 5.1 mix in hi-rez.
I think such a box could easily go toe to toe sales-wise with recent Grateful Dead 10CD Fillmore box, which sold 10000 copies.
And I recall reading the Detroit or Aquarius liner notes where Botnick mentioned he made 5.1 mixes of those BMA releases. So maybe Botnick is already making 5.1s of the concert material anyway?

Overall, the Felt Forum shows are the best of the Absolutely Live multitrack recordings and arguably the best of the 1970 tour.

I thought the New York show was good, but not Jim at his best.

They were very, very good shows. I still think Detroit is going to be tough to beat, though!

I still like to think the second Aquarius show is the best, but everyone has their own opinion. As far as the release of the Felt Forum Boxed Set..I think it's an awesome idea. I've heard only a few bootlegs from the shows but they were quite wonderful. I'm looking forward to it, as I always am to a BMA release.

'The Gloria/Easy ride/My Eyes Have Seen you' medley was a superb way to close the show- pity jim;s voice was gone by that point- but still stellar nonetheless...
Im curious if the Doors did a soundcheck at the felt Forum, and if so, was it recorded/
Of course we have the Aqaurius Theatre soundcheck.....
What was the story behind the tune 'Goin to NY' (NY Quiz Show)?

I totally agree- the Felt Forum performances don't hold a candle to the Matrix, Back Bay Theatre, Roundhouse, Danish tv or critique performances- but the sound quality is stunningly good, and the band in top form- Jim's totally loses his voice during the final set. Even so, i want to see it released..

I'm sorry but I can't mention the source (I think it was a post from this forum).
This is the one I have:
1/17/70 early set
-Roadhouse Blues (some was used on "Essential Rarities")
-Ship Of Fools
-Break On Through (BMR sampler)
-Peace Frog ('97 box set)
-Blue Sunday ('97 box set)
-Alabama Song (possibly used on Absolutely Live)
-Back Door Man
-Five To One
-Little Red Rooster (used on Alive She Cried)
-Money ('97 box set)
-Who do you love
-Light My Fire
-Soul Kitchen
I'm not sure if this is the true and complete setlist, but it agrees well with an audiofile that circulates.

I'm not so sure of the setlist of 18 late. Ship Of Fools included in the circulating audience recording is the same than the one of 17 late, I noted this recently shifting the pitch of my 4 FF shows.
And it's strange that it was played just between songs with John Sebastian then Dallas Taylor, id for Close To You. In the early 70's SOF was more often played in the 1st part of the show, very near from RHB.
It would be interesting if Dave could give us the official setlist of the different FF shows
