Ah c'mon--your avatar is a hoot and don't you dare change it!
As for Jim and his complicated take on his own astonishing beauty--well, it was
complicated. He said he was embarrassed by what he called the "cheap starlet" photos from the early days of his fame, but on the other hand he was still vain enough to be upset by the way he looked after only a couple hours' sleep on my sofa (after all the craziness with Patricia on 2/19-20/71).
I still remember hearing his wail from the bathroom, after he got up to take a leak right after I got back from taking PK to the airport:
"Oh god, I'm all blotchy!"
hi miz, don't worry, i won't change pirate jim. i think that picture is funny. he looks so serious with that absurd pirate hat on his head. i hope where ever jim is he knows i'm only kidding
it's funny that you say jim was vain. though, i wouldn't peg him as vain, i always thought that there was a "purpose" to the way he looked. he lived his life in a humble way, yet, here he was, this leather pants, concho wearin' handsome man...who crashed at the alta cienega. it's a complete dichotomy to me.

We got a few more peeps from here over there. Did you know the 'share your thoughts' is actually already there. I didn't know it, and I posted up a pic and it said the share your thoughts blurb. I was embarrassed b/c I didn't write that. I was trying to be mysterious and post up a cool pic of Jim Morrison and after I see the stupid blurb!
I put in a complaint ticket in and have heard nothing from the site(not regarding the blurb!)
And as far as those beads go....I made my own when I was 12 and had the young lion album cover(that I ripped in half!) attached to my ceiling. So I woke up everyday to Mr. Morrisons face. I was 12! Remember that!
queenhwy, i didn't know that. i just thought it was just stupid. and i think the young lion on the ceiling is actually a good design choice for any room

Jim would complain about girls chasing him, but really, he did enjoy all of the attention his looks and fame brought him. In one way it made him feel self conscious but in another way he did enjoy the way girls looked at him.
Even when he grew out his beard there was that dichotomy of wanting to be taken seriously and wondering if he still had that same appeal.
hi texasky! when i think of the bearded jim i think of the pbs interview on critique. i think he looked good there. and, he seemed so shy in that interview.
