I bought this book ages ago of amazon.co.uk 2nd hand, It's quite a good book as imo it gives you a very human picture of jim and the book is down to earth so to speak.

How would the story of (Page 180) jim walking around pere lachaise with someone  shortly before he died get back to the U.S  so quick after he died?.

Its said to be the most truthful book written - of all the 'I was Jim Morrisons girlfriend' books... :rolling:

I think the book is very sad and touching.
It is one of my favorite books so far.

It is a rather foolish insight to Morrison.

We learn

she develops rash from fiberglass

her dog was run over yesterday

Jim wears a mexican hat

Oh, yeah she gets institutionalized a lot.

But hardly because of Jim. She meets him ten times.

So it must have been in her blood-vessels all along.

She has allergy to fiberglass and already knows this before she gets the enchilada from Jim in his Sombrero.

I think some people seem to forget we are talking about a 17 year old girl.
  
   The story is about how she met Jim and the time she had with him.
    She was not used by Jim,it never seem that way to me. I don't think
    Jim would do that . As far as the fiberglass..maybe a page if that. Why make
    a big deal out of that?? Also her dog ,she loved her pet big deal. You sure pick
    on some strange things in this book that are really pointless and do not make
     the book. :wtf:

er...she writes the book in 1991, coinciding with the release of the movie.

Morrison is not explained at all in her book.- No perspective.

It´s only stills of Morrison, doing this and that as observed by a starry-eyed girl, still so 25 years later, now 42 years old.

The highlight in her book is the sombrero.

I don't want to argue about the book.
Like I said she was 17 when she met JIM.What 17 year old girl would not be star struck?
She told the story as a 17 year old girl not a 40 something women. I bet there are 40 something women
  who would act the same as she did.Maybe I like it so much because I can relate to her and also I think
   she was one lucky girl to even be with Jim. :shades:

She whines a lot and drugs a lot. Boring!

She writes a book to cash in on at the same time of the release of the movie. In 1991.

She only meets Jim 10 times.

Furthermore she is not able to put her story into perspective 25 years later.

  As far as the drugs..I don't remember her doing it all the time.
   I don't think that she whine alot .Maybe it is girl thing??

  I don't think she was the only one to cash in either.
  That really is not a reason to dislike the book.

  I still think it is a good read for any Jim Morrison fan.

Things are never that simple.  

Judy wrote a valid and honest piece of work, a memoir of the time she spent with Jim.

She was a young pre adult (late teens). The book was taken from her journal written at the time she saw Jim, which afforded all of us a chance to see Jim as he interacted with her, the nice and not so nice sides of him.

I disagree that her book is shallow. I think it gives very clear snap shots of the way Jim interacted with many people during his rise and fall.  

Perhaps her understanding of Jim is shallow, but the pictures she gives of him are valid and can give you an insight into the Jim she knew. Put those pictures together with other views of Jim provided by those who knew him and you have another piece of the 1000-piece puzzle.

Judy's book did come out in conjunction with the film, but is that any reason to castigate her? No. Judy has a right to share what she chooses to of her time with Jim.

Judy clearly had a Jim she had cared for and wanted to share with honesty and did so and, like Janet in "Ballroom Days," Deanna in "24 Hours for Magic," and Leon in "Morrison Moments" Judy gives us a recognizable and accurate picture of Jim.  

What we do with the material given to us is to see how and where the pieces of Jim's puzzle fit together. So what Judy gives us on the surface may seem simple, but look a little deeper and really read what she says about him. It will give you access to a complicated man with a complicated system of behaviors.

I think you are right, Salli.

But Judy suffers emotional breakdowns and has some major issues that I simple am unable to connect with her time with Jim.

She depicts her problems as a result of her affair with Morrison.

And that is shallow. She only meets him ten times!

She doen´t live with Jim. She doesn´t travel with him.

And she is not able to connect her time with him into a bigger frame. 25 years later!

That I find boring.

I think sometimes it's the quality of the time spent, not the quantity and Judy was a highly impressionable young woman who kept a daily journal. I think it is not for any of us to judge how much she loved Jim and how much of an impact he made on her life. I think the book makes that clear.  Judy loved him as only a 17, 18, 19 year old can love. His impact on her was clearly life changing for her.

The question that will always be there though where Jim and women were concerned is how much Jim loved anyone and who impacted him.

I think the answer there would be that the woman who had the most impact on Jim and the one he returned to time after time for whatever reason was Pamela.  


I don't think she was trying to connect the over the years time frame, was she? It's been awhile since I've read her book, so I don't remember.
