Did anybody else notice that in the Guitar Legends magizine that the part where they show the guitar parts to Doors songs that on L.A. Woman they messed up on the first line of the song. They wrote "took a little downer 'bout an hour ago." I was wondering if anybody else saw this.

well.....I think that those lines are correct actually :shades:

I don't know I've been told both things, I personally think he really does sing 'Downer' on that song. I could be wrong, who knows?

Im pretty sure that it was, "well i just got into town about an hour ago"...but i could be wrong...I would enjoy both beggining lines no matter what it was really..

Why dont we get the band members on here to tell us the truth on some of this stuff, who knows they could be in here all secret like...ohhhhh! :peace:

It's in the official lyrics.
It's in Jim's original handwritten lyrics.
If you were to slow down the vocal track, that is what you would hear.

The cover of that magazine also claimed Robbie gave a lesson on how to play "When The Music's Over," but no part of that song is transcribed anywhere in the book.

He officially sang "took a little downer". They switched the lyrics to "just got into town" because of drug reference in the original

Do you have a source for that assertion?  To me, I hear "town," not "downer," and "town" would make sense in terms of narrative cohesion.

Stephen Davis book contains more rumors than any Doors book, and PK´s books as well
